I was blessed this month not only to share Jesus through music at the 28th annual Jozenji Street Jazz Festival but also to use music to share Jesus among people in our community in Sendai, Japan. I was invited to share songs and words of encouragement to a group of people who were celebrating the Japanese holiday, "Aged Day". "Aged Day" is a day where the elderly (75 & older) are celebrated. I shared scripture and regional songs from the part of U.S where I was born & raised (Texas). I also sang some traditional Japanese songs so that everyone could sing along. Among the songs I sung was one that I wrote that had been translated into Japanese. It is a song called, "Come to Me". In Japanese, the title is translated, "Koko ni Oide". It is a song I wrote after the disaster that hit northern Japan on March 11, 2011. It's from Matthew 11:28, where Jesus is calling people who have been weighed down emotionally and spiritually to come to Him to find rest. We were told to prepare for about 20 people to show but in fact, almost 50 people showed up for this event. What a blessing to share Jesus among so many of whom had never heard of Jesus. They invited our family back again next month to join them for a party that celebrates the coming of Autumn. We will share a traditional soup and get to interact with many who came this month. Please pray that we will have further opportunity to share the Love of Christ with these new friends we have made. Blessings!
